Masai Mara Park Fees 2026: Reserve, Child Rates, Conservancies & What You Actually Pay
The fee itself is simple. The real calculation depends on season, age, actual Reserve access days and whether your itinerary also uses a private conservancy.
Start here: the 2026 non-resident Reserve fees

From July through December it doubles from USD 100 to USD 200 per person.

How park fees are actually counted
The cleanest way to cost the Mara is by actual Reserve-access days, not by hotel-night count.
A three-night stay does not automatically mean three identical fee days. The correct total depends on where the lodge is, when the vehicle enters the Reserve and how the itinerary is structured.
Vehicle entry is also a separate protected-area charge, although it is usually bundled into the operator’s safari-vehicle costing rather than shown as a separate traveller line item.
Child fees: keep park rules separate from lodge rules
The current non-resident child category is 9–17 years. Children aged 8 and below are free for Reserve entry.

Age 9–17: USD 50. Age 8 and under: free.
Lodge policy
Hotels can use completely different age bands, child percentages or extra-bed rules.
A child can be free for the Reserve fee and still be chargeable at the lodge.
Reserve, Mara Triangle and conservancies: what is different?
Masai Mara National Reserve
The main public protected area under the relevant Reserve management system.
Mara Triangle
Part of the National Reserve, but separately managed by Mara Conservancy. It is not a private conservancy.
Private conservancy
A separately managed community/private conservation area such as Mara North, Naboisho or Olare Motorogi.
Why this matters
Reserve fees and conservancy fees can both appear in the same itinerary, but they are not the same charge.
The Mara Triangle’s visitor guidance currently describes a 12-hour entry window running from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm, with tickets linked to where visitors stay.
For private conservancies, there is no single universal Greater Mara conservancy fee. The exact fee depends on the conservancy, property and itinerary.

How lodge location changes the fee picture
Where you stay affects how the fee calculation works — but not always in the way travellers expect.
- Inside the Reserve: Reserve access is operationally straightforward.
- Outside the Reserve: the room can be cheaper, but Reserve entry still applies on game-drive days inside.
- Inside a conservancy: conservancy charges may apply, and Reserve fees can still be added on days you enter the Reserve.

You do not need every fee broken out separately, but the operator should have calculated the route correctly.
